![]() I have to "fake" this by the names: Fiction, Fiction.SciFi, Fiction.Mystery, Fiction.Historical, etc. ![]() Collections does not have a multi level feature.Įxample fiction at level 1, then SciFi, mystery, time travel, etc. There is no way to make a BULK move of a range of books, from collection A to collection B. There is no way to "move" books from collection A to collection B, you have to add to A, then delete from B. ![]() ![]() I do this when a collection gets too big, too many books. Moving a book from collection A to collection B So you cannot easily add a book to a collection, and you cannot delete a book from a collection. There is no way to scroll to see the "hidden" collections. If you have more collections than will fit on the screen (like on a laptop), you do NOT have access to those "hidden" collections. The collections screen is designed for a LARGE monitor or a SMALL number of collections. This problem should have been caught in design review, and has existed for at least seven years, when I got my Kindle 2. A default alpha sort would be infinitely better than the random order it is in. This makes finding a particular collection a real PITA, when you have a LOT of collections. The collections screen, is in a seemingly random order. Collections in general on the K4PC and the cloud appears to be very poorly thought out and implemented. Collections behave differently on different platforms. Some platforms do not have collections. There does not appear to be a grand cross-platform strategy for collections. Collections that you create on K4PC (and Kindle for Mac) do not sync with the cloud collections, and by extension will not sync with your PaperWhite, or iPhone. IOW, they put the least amount of work/cost into the product as possible. I get the impression that the various platform developers are in their own world, and if they don't want to cooperate with other teams, they don't. This gives me the impression that there is no grand overall cross-platform Kindle feature/function strategy. K4PC does not fully sync with the cloud. If it was that easy, we would.Ģ) WAIT "indefinitely" for ver 1.30 to be fixed to work on Win7. The two alternatives from Amazon are not acceptable:ġ) Upgrade to Win10. Amazon did not fall back to ver 1.29 nor have a download of ver 1.29 for the Win7 users. This ignores the stupidly long 7+ MINUTES to start the K4PC app on the tablet. On the PW, I have to turn "airplane mode" on, to have any reasonable response time. On my tablet, the K4PC application response time is MUCH better than the PaperWhite. It is in my laptop, IF I take the laptop with me. When I travel, I don't have a small pile of paperback books. I don't need to have a HUGE library of physical books. It seems to me that it is of low priority to be fixed. The fact that this problem has been known for about three months, yet there is no fallback or alternate plan. So if you have Win7, you have to look on the internet for ver 1.29. Even though Amazon knows of this BUG, they did not roll back to ver 1.29.Īmazon does not have an option to download the older version 1.29 that does work on Win7. Despite what is written on the product page, ver 1.30 does NOT work on Win7. If you have Windows 7, don't bother downloading the current K4PC. This review applies to version 1.30, the current version of Kindle for PC (K4PC), as of this review. I will keep getting my digital books from other sources. This is a poor attempt and really a sub par reading experience. I have no idea how this represents a better reading experience than the former windows store application. I would increase the Top and Bottom margins to create some breathing room, if I could. As a result the sheer amount of text on the screen is way too much for my taste. ![]() Another thing that I don't like is that the Top and Bottom margins are pretty small. At least the full screen mode can be used to hide these two errors while reading. Menus styles remain stuck in 2001 and are completely distracting to a good read. There is an attempt to make this look like modern software but it is at best a half effort. (the last screen shot on this post is the initial view that you are presented with for your first read) The Dark Theme is only half complete the toolbars remain a blinding concrete grey, when the dark mode is turned on. As for the reading view you really need to tweak the settings to get anything close to acceptable. It seems to crawl to a stop when a title is downloading. Reading is not bad but the library interface is slow to respond. So if you want to read books on your PC or Windows Tablet, look elsewhere. Calificado en Estados Unidos el 17 de agosto de 2018 ![]()
